"Roti Indian Bistro brings a fresh, contemporary look and cooking style to North Indian dining…"
Patricia Unterman, San Francisco Examiner
Every detail from glassware and chutney dishes to striking photographs on
the walls, contributes to the super smart design – elevated but fun…slate floors,
orange, taupe and ochre walls and lighting that makes everyone look good, the
visual appeal of this restaurant is immediate…the restaurant draws the most
diverse group of locals I’ve seen anywhere.
Aromatic spices practically leap
out of each dish – bright and distinctive…tandoori-roasted meats, like big
hunks of Sonoma lamb encrusted with complex spice paste, to medium rare, unheard
of elsewhere.
The made-to-order vegetable dishes maintain texture
and character instead of melting into a generic mush…tandoori baked flat breads
emerge from the oven thin, firelicked, and delicately layered, some of the
best I’ve tasted…use your hand to tear off pieces to wrap around sizzling seekh
kabab, juicy ground lamb sausages, redolent of spices.
Add a plate of smoky
bengan bharta, tandoori roasted, chopped eggplants or my favorite, bhindi masala,
fresh okra and sweet peppers cooked together until just al dente. You won’t
believe it’s okra.
